106 escape, 2 injured
as Ciara Joie capsizes
BY JESSAR DURA

One hundred six persons escaped danger and possibly death by rushing off a 136-ton roll on roll off vessel as it turned upside down shortly before it departed from the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. Port at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City at about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Two persons identified as Jean Marie Depalubos, 12, and Arturo Magaluyo were injured while they struggled to get off the vessel. They were rushed to the Riverside Medical Center in the city with injuries in their feet.

Fernando Noblezada, 61, captain of the M/V Ciara Joie owned by Aleson Shipping Lines Inc., said the vessel tipped when a forklift slipped off the gangplank dropping a 10-footer container van weighing 15 tons on the vessel, causing an imbalance in its weight.
