Four treated for
suspected food poisoning

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Two minors are being treated for suspected food poisoning at the Alfredo Marañon Sr. District Hospital in Brgy. Bato, Sagay City, after they ate “kamoteng kahoy (cassava)” in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday.

Bryan Guingerayan, 2, and his elder brother, Zaldy, complained of dizziness and stomach ache after eating the root crop at their residence in Sitio Manatag, Brgy. Lopez Jaena, Sagay City.

Rodney, 12, and his sister Roselyn, 8, who also ate cassava, however were released from the hospital after treatment, ABS-CBN reported.

Dr. Rameses Acosta was quoted as saying he suspects that the cyanide content of the cassava may have caused the poisoning of the four minors.

Bryan and Zaldy are still under observation at the hospital.*GPB
