to mark ICT month

The Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology Inc. will hold a series of activities to mark the National ICT Month this June, Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, BNEFIT chairperson, said in a press release from her office yesterday.

On June 27, a seminar on the development of locally-produced original content in the Philippines , as a global destination for animation outsourcing, will be held in Bacolod City in partnership with the Animation Council of the Philippines , the press release said.

On June 23 and 24, BNEFIT, along with local schools, will join the First Cebu Open Source Summit sponsored by the Cebu Educational Foundation for Information Technology in Cebu City .

City ‘BEST' program
pre-qualifying still on

The pre-qualification for interested applicants for “The Best of Bing” Program (Bacoleños Employment through Skills Training) is now on going, a press release from the Bacolod City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office said.

The release said the program, which is in line with the Poverty Alleviation Development Program of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, will start on June 16, 2008 .

It said the program aims to provide livelihood, jobs and employment for Bacoleños by giving them in-service skills training, on-the-job training, job market matching and jobs placement through the CCLDO in coordination with the Johnny J. Orola Senior Memorial Foundation Inc.
