They were on their way home on board a truck when a group of rebels, believed to be members of the Leonardo Panaligan Command, opened fire on them, after midnight of June 11.

Resolve boundary disputes
in favor of riding public: solon
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2 nd district) said yesterday that boundary disputes between local government units in the operation of motorcabs-for-hire must be resolved in favor of the riding public.

He was alluding to the Pamplona and Tanjay governments, which are apparently disputing jurisdiction over the entry of tricycles to and from their areas.

Arnaiz, who was invited to a meeting between transport groups from Tanjay and Pamplona , said that in Dumaguete City , a number of tricycle units from the neighboring LGUs are allowed entry but are prohibited from picking up passengers on the streets.

City police chief vows
to prosecute suspects
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Dumaguete City police director, Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag, yesterday assured the public that they have an air-tight case against a couple allegedly operating a cyber sex den in Barangay Bagacay.

Suspects Nestor and Lisa Dumapit, who were arrested in a police raid last week on their apartment, are facing charges of violating Republic Act 9208, or trafficking of women and Republic Act 7610, or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.

Cabanag said this was the second time the suspects were linked to the illegal activity. They were also raided in Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete late last year, but Nestor eluded arrest.
