P18M for salary
increases, too
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday unanimously approved the allocation of P18 million for the 10 percent across-the-board salary increase of regular and plantilla casual employees of the city.

The request was made by Mayor Evelio Leonardia in his letter to the SP dated June 10, 2008 .

The City Treasurer and City Budget Officer have issued certifications that the amount is available from the item “Personnel Benefit Fund” under the 2008 annual budget.

Leonardia announced during the Independence Day celebration yesterday that the implementation of the 10 percent salary adjustment of the city employees over their basic monthly salaries will take effect on July 1 as mandated by Executive Order 719.

E.O. No. 719 issued by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on May 1, 2008 authorizes the granting of a 10 percent increase in compensation over the basic monthly salary as of June 30, 2008 for local government employees.

City Budget Officer Luzviminda Treyes said the city has about 1,004 regular and 1,003 plantilla casual employees.*CGS
