Seminars on St. Therese set

Orientation seminars on the Pious Union of the Little Protégées of St. Therese of the Child Jesus are scheduled Sept. 13 and 20 for parents, teachers and youth leaders, a press release from The Lovers of St. Therese group, the organizers, said.

The half-day seminars, which will begin at 9S a.m., are in preparation for the reception of the protégées.

The protégées union is open to children under 12. The reception is scheduled 4 p.m. on Oct. 1.

The seminars will be held at the Agape House of Carmel in Mandalagan, Bacolod City, the press release said.

The reception of the protégées of St. Therese is part of the feast day celebration of the world’s most famous female saint whose relics were brought to Bacolod earlier this year.

Clean and green tilt
for barangays slated

The Task Force Clean and Green in Bacolod City will hold an Inter-Barangay Clean and Green and Cleanest Coastal Area contest, for the rural and urban categories, a City Hall press release said.

Evaluators for the rural barangay category are the city administrator/market supervisor, Department of Public Services head, City Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Office head, City Health Office, City Engineer and City Planning and Development Office head.

For the urban barangay, evaluators are the City Veterinarian, City General Services Office, Public Affairs and Assistance Office, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Education, CPDO and City Tourism Office, the press release said.

Evaluation will start on Sept. 8. Twenty special awards of P5,000 for each category will be given.

Meanwhile, Victorio Pagapulan replaced Ireneo Asuga as DILG city director effective Sept. 1. Asuga is now the chief of DILG regional Operations and Services Division, the press release added.*

Newscasting finalists named

Thirty out of 300 students made it to the finals of the province-wide ABS-CBN UNO-R 3rd Newscasting Competition set 8 a.m. Sept. 13 at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Auditorium, in Bacolod City, a press release from ABS-CBN said.

In the high school category, the competitors are Mekaela Trique and Aubrey Jones from Bacolod Christian College; Carlo Marpa – Bacolod City National High School; Jayrene Taburno – Handumanan National High School; Marc Kevin Jabay – Kabankalan Catholic College; Angeli Galapon – Sta. Teresita Academy; Denise Guatelara and Geliane Esteron – St. Joseph School-La Salle; Carolyn Kim Canoy and Godfrey Bolivar – Sto. Tomas Recoletos; Nathalie Kho – Tay Tung High School; Angelli Kristie Balinas and John Michael Yblas – UNO-R; and Lucille Santivanez and Roam Aledron – West Negros University.

College finalists are Jennifer Velarde – Binalbagan Catholic College; Paul Vern Palermo – La Carlota City College; Honey Grace Date – La Consolacion College; Marianne Ledesma – Riverside College; Libert Botalon, Michael John Poblacion and Kenjie Gayares – TUP Visayas; Leslie Tingson, Rommel Depasucat, Jannah Lagare, Leonevie Garanzo and Snu Anne Digon – UNO-R; Therese Andrada – USLS; and Princess Abada and  Efrelyn Entapon – WNU, the press release said.

The finalists will guest at the ABS-CBN’s The Morning Show next week and will be introduced to news operations of TV Patrol Negros, the press release added.*
