NBA-GOV’S CUP FINALS
Ticel wins Game 1;
Cadiz bags 3rd place

BY NIDA BUENAFE

Ticel-Iloilo is one game away from adding the NBA Gov. Isidro P.  Zayco Invitational Cup to the list of tournaments it won after whipping West Negros University last night, 88-72, in Game 1 of their best-of-three championship series at the Bacolod Tay Tung gym.

Even without the towering presence of Reynel Hugnatan of PBA’s Alaska Aces, Ticel overpowered the Mustangs with Ruel Balgos and Kenneth Duremdes leading the Iloilo assault as early as the first quarter.

Duremdes finished the ballgame with 20 points while Balgos scored 14.

Chemisolutions eyes
Fil-Sino basketball title

Chemisolutions outlasted JSY Transport, 99-97, Wednesday to earn the first finals berth in the ongoing Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym.

Chemisolutions controlled the tempo of the game early on thanks to the sweet shooting combo of Archie Co and Papang Oxinio.

But Freddie Ong and Matthew Yap took matters into their own hands as they repeatedly challenged Chemisolutions’ defense, combining for 39 points in the second half to threaten at 92-91 with less than a minute remaining.
