SJI girls to defend NOPSSCEA
volleyball title against USLS-IS

With a twice to beat privilege, defending champion St. John’s Institute will be defending its high school girls’ volleyball crown against perennial rival University of St. La Salle-IS, in the NOPSSCEA Season 34 championship this Saturday at the USLS Covered Court in Bacolod City.

The Peter Yusay-mentored SJI girls’ advanced into the finals and secured the twice-to-beat advantage after turning back USLS, 25-13, 25-21.

Despite the loss, the La Sallians managed to secure the last ticket into the championship round by prevailing over Bacolod Tay Tung High School, 25-19, 25-16. With the loss, BTTHS settled for third place.

Pre-Christmas bowlfest
kicks off at Super Lanes

The Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers Inc.-Silverado Pre-Christmas Bonanza Trio Bowling Extravaganza begins tonight at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Competition will start after the 5:30 p.m. meeting of team captains and representatives of the participating squads.

The tournament is open to all bowling enthusiasts in the province and will have an eight-round scheduled event where the top three teams will challenge against each other in an up-the-ladder system to determine the champion.

Talisay, Murcia spikers prevail
in 2014 Albee  Cup volleyball

Talisay City and Murcia town posted early victories in men’s volleyball of the 2nd Albee Cup Sports Meet as competition kicked Sunday in Talisay.

The host team beat Victorias City, 25-12, 25-15, while Murcia needed three sets to tame Silay City, 25-15, 13-25 and 25-20.

The sporting event in the Third District opened Saturday at Victorias City Sports and Amusement Center with Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez addressing all the participants during the opening rites.
