Negrense cager shoots
for UAAP title with FEU

Who would have thought that one of the players of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws that won by dramatic 67-64 victory over defending champions De La Salle University Green Archers on Wednesday, is a Negrense?

Raymar Jose, 22, told the DAILY STAR yesterday that he cannot explain what he felt knowing that their team will advance to the finals of the UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball.

“I am very happy,” Jose said. He admitted that he cried after the game at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, since they had so much wanted to win over last year’s season defending champion, DLSU Green Archers.

ABAB airs concern over
boxing decisions

The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines executive director Ed Picson expressed concerns over controversial decisions in the 2014 Asian Games, reports from the wires said.

The report said Picson had considered making a complaint after flyweight Ian Clark Bautista’s hotly disputed loss to South Korea's Choe Sang-Don on Saturday.

The Korean had taken a standing count in the third and was visibly dazed yet still won the round on two of the three judges' scorecards.

Anti-breast cancer fun
run/walk on Oct. 5

To show support for breast cancer patients, their families and relatives, the Bacolod Kadughan Foundation for Breast Care in Negros Occidental will lead the Negrense community in the fun run/walk set this Sunday, 5 a.m. at the Capitol Lagoon.

The event will be duplicated in several major cities throughout the country also to mark the World Health Organization declaration of October as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”.

The organizers called on the public in a press release to join the charity-oriented activity to help raise awareness on breast cancer. The beneficiaries of the event are the indigent breast cancer patients, the press release also said.*
