Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary
feast to be celebrated tomorrow

The Diocese of Bacolod will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, Secondary Patroness of the Diocese, tomorrow in Bacolod City, a press release from Fr. Felix Pasquin, Cathedral rector, said.

The feast, traditionally celebrated every October 7, was moved to the second Sunday of October in the Diocese of Bacolod, to give the celebration a more fitting dignity being for the Secondary Patroness of the Diocese.

As part of the annual celebration, a Living Rosary and Mass have been celebrated in the Cathedral every 5:15 p.m. since October 3, with various sponsoring schools and universities, the press release said.

Tomorrow, there will be a 10 a.m. concelebrated mass at the San Sebastian Cathedral, to be presided over by Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra. A procession of the image of the Most Holy Rosary will be held 5 p.m., and participated in by lay associations, Catholic schools and universities. After the procession, Mayor Monico Puentevella will lead the Prayer of Consecration.

For the past years, there has been active collaboration between the San Sebastian Cathedral Parish and the Bacolod City government in celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, the press release added.*

UAP observes Architecture Day

The United Architects of the Philippines–Mt Kanla-on Chapter joined in the celebration of the World Architecture Day October 6, on the theme “Healthy Cities, Happy Cities”, its press release said.

The UAP-MK members and officers held a heritage and campaign tour in various historical buildings in Bacolod and nearby cities, radio guesting over DYEZ Aksyon Radyo, dissemination of the song “Architects for Change” through the Facebook and Youtube, and tree planting, the press release also said.

UAP-WDA 2014 national chairman Neil Villanueva said the celebration was participated in nationwide by four UAP areas, 10 districts, 31 chapters, and four foreign chapters.

The WDA celebration was also aligned with the platform of administration of UAP national president Benita Ochoa Regala, on empowering the professional, equipping the architect, and enjoining the organization, the press release added.*

LCC students win
in tourism contests

Tourism students of La Consolacion College Bacolod made back-to-back wins during the Tourism Week competitions sponsored by the Bacolod City government and the provincial government of Negros Occidental, in Bacolod recently, a press release from the school said.

Darwin Belleza, Karyn Ysa Amparado, and Valerie Palma were champions in this year’s brochure-making competition, organized by the City Tourism Office, in celebration of the Tourism Week recently, the press release also said.

Belleza said their brochure bested the other entries because they were the only ones who employed the cartoon map concept that deviates from the traditional rendition of the city map.

The winning entry will be used as the official brochure in promoting Bacolod, and features attractions, accommodations, and delicacies that promote the City of Smiles, the press release also said.

Rizelle Alburo, who represented LCC in the tour-guiding category, won third place, and Kisha Lahra Odtohan won in the Provincial Tourism Week tour-guiding competition at the Civic Center in Silay City, Negros Occidental. Sheryl Pacheco, program head of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management Area, was their coach, the press release added.*

MassKara healthy kids’
category B winners named

Thirty-three kids made it to the category B – 2 to 6 years old – of the MassKara Healthy Baby and Kid search, managed by pediatrician Severo Lacson, president of the Cebu Institute of Medicine Alumni Association–Negros Occidental chapter, at the Robinsons Place Bacolod recently.

The finalists are Khloe Sapphire Gaturian, Shawna Din Lo, Juan Gabriel Miguel Omarrementeria, Louie Victoria Loriezo, Daniel Kirby Guimere Sorolla, Jameer Calvin Verzosa, Zena Rose del Rosario, Jaden Junsay Hormigos, Jazich Charmin Gura, Angeline Marañon, Annicka Zoe Gabon, Samantha Lynch Fortaleza, Princess Athena dela Cruz, Muave Lhaie Sykay;

Gabrielle Akol Peñalosa, Jacob Tyler dela Cruz, Irich Megan Panes, Sarah Kirstine Tambasen, Winnie Marañon Jr., Xyan Sky Agagas, Zoe Francine Espiritu, Migel Agustin Rupert Gialogo, Jello Gealon, Yahaira Labis, Jeru Gabriel Delejeru, Alexandra Bless Imperial, Alexis John Regorgo, Quasar Talbo, Maria Isabela Divinagracia, Romely Yuri Caletina, Ysabelle Kate Pastrana, Eleah Claire Banayo, and Gabriel Alexander Temporosa.

There are 25 finalists in Category A, or 1 to 2 years old.

The finals will be held 3 p.m. on October 18, also at Robinsons Place, with the winners in both categories to receive P10,000 in cash, Lacson said.

The search is organized by the Cebu Institute of Medicine Alumni Association–Negros Occidental chapter, the Philippine Pediatric Society Negros Occidental, Western Visayas Chapter, the Doctors’ Hospital Inc. of Bacolod City, and VMA Global College, with the full cooperation of the Kanlaon Medical Society and with Aspen Philippines Inc. as main presentor.*
