Athletes from Negros Occidental private schools won the gold medal in boys and men's basketball, girls and women's volleyball, men's football, and women's beach volleyball in the final day of competition at the 2016 Regional PRISAA in Roxas City, Capiz.

The Gerome Aledron-mentored NOPSSCEA men's basketball team from UNO-R, with reinforcement from La Salle, La Consolacion College, and Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, prevailed over host team Capiz, 77-73, in yesterday's championship match.

Also triumphant in their quest for the WVPRISAA gold medal were the boys from Bacolod Tay Tung High School, who beat Iloilo, 117-113, after two extra periods.

While most consider 13 an unlucky number, St. La Salle football standout Jo Warren Bedia, an Interdisciplinary Studies senior, does not mind wearing the jersey bearing that number this year.

I change jersey numbers every year and this time I chose 13, he said.

No. 13 booted in the icebreaker in the regional PRISAA Meet collegiate championship in Roxas City on Saturday midway in the first half, with teammate Joshua Antonio Dutosme heading the insurance marker in the dying ticks of the first canto extension.
