A birthday celebration

LA VIDA NEGRENSE

It was a memorable and intimate birthday celebration for Radjie Caram Sr. held at 21 Restaurant in Bacolod City, recently.

The birthday bash began with the singing of a “Happy Birthday” to the celebrator by his immediate family and relatives. Family bonding time followed as guests enjoyed the sumptuous dinner prepared by the chefs of the restaurant. Radjie and Dr. Lucy Caram are the parents of RCJ, founder and chairman of Island Living Channel, businessman Gabriel Caram and anaesthesiologist Radcibel Caram-Sanchez.

The celebrator is the son of the late Don Miguel Caram and Doña Isabel Montilla Lalinde-Sanchez. The Carams were into politics, business and haciendas, while Doña Isabel's family founded Bacolod's very first hotel, Hotel Bacolod. Radjie Sr. used to work for the treasury department of the then family-owned Filipinas Orient Airways, which was sequestered during Martial Law. Later, he dedicated his time to running the family hacienda in Isabela, Negros Occidental.

The Carams are the direct descendants of Abu Karam, the first Karam ruler of Ehden in Mount Lebanon, 300 years ago.*
