The largest animal on Earth came a-visiting, to the surprise and delight of many in Dumaguete City and other parts of Negros Oriental.

AA Yaptinchay of the Marine Wildlife Watch of the Philippines said this is the first time for them to document the sighting of a blue whale in the waters of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental, with photographs, videos and personal accounts to support it.

non-release of election returns
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The provincial chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting in Negros Oriental has expressed disappointment over the alleged refusal of some Board of Election Inspectors in releasing the copies of election returns intended for the PPCRV.

Msgr. Julius Perpetuo Heruela, PPCRV provincial chair and concurrent convenor of the Diocesan Electoral Board of the Diocese of Dumaguete, said that only 95 percent of the ERs from the May 9 elections here had been retrieved by the PPCRV.

The remaining five percent comprises 57 ERs from 57 clustered voting precincts whose BEIs and/or election officers have allegedly declined the release of these documents, apparently due to lack of knowledge of the law, Heruela said..
