Quake drill held at BPO firms
The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office conducted an earthquake drill at two business process outsourcing companies in the city recently, as part of the first quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, per NDRRMC Memorandum No. 46 series of 2017, a press release from the city said.
CDRRMO administrative officer Bernadeth Montelibano said the safety drills were conducted at Panasiatic Solutions and Transcom Bacolod.
Employees of the two companies joined the drills that were conducted by the DRRMO, Bureau of Fire Protection Bacolod, and the Office of the Civil Defense Negros Island Region that served as evaluators, Montelibano added.
The pool of evaluators included OCD-NIR OIC-regional director Ma. Aletha Nogra and CDRRM officer Aaron Bais.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod, through Resolution No. 09-17-158 series of 2017, has requested the DRRMO and the BFP to conduct an earthquake drill in BPO-IT industries in Bacolod, and initiate an orientation program to all their employees to promote occupational safety, the press release added.*

Pajarillo to serve
‘wider Lasallian community'
Br. Manuel Pajarillo, president of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod, said in a post recently,that he will be re-assigned beginning academic year 2017-2018, “To be of service to the wider Lasallian community in the Pacific-Asian Region and the LEAD District”.
The Brother Visitor willcommunicate the nominee of the De La Salle Brothers for the next President and Chancellor to the USLS Board of Trustees before April 15, he said.
He also said “The Brother Visitor expressed gratitude for our leadership at USLS, especially in the area of good governance, and directed the USLS Board of Trustees to continue supporting the initiatives I have begun and successfully implemented, thanks to the steadfast support of everyone.”
In commending him, he said, he commends all, from the vice-chancellor, to the assistant vice chancellors, IS principal, Liceo De La Salleprincipal directors,and the rest of the academic community.
