More tourists expected
with new airport

Tourist arrivals are seen in south Negros after the new airport in Sipalay City opened and has started commercial flights from Cebu and Iloilo provinces, CristineMansinares, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer, said yesterday.

Mansinares said these commercial flights will help to gradually increase tourist visits in Sipalay but the airstrip still needs more renovations to accommodate more flights.

There are about 40 resorts in Sipalay and in Cauayan town in Negros Occidental.

The rural airline company, Air Juan Aviation Inc., began flying to the airport in Brgy. San Jose, Sipalay City, Wednesday, and it can accommodate about 72 tourists every week, she said, with at least 9 passengers per flight.

Mansinares also said the Sipalay Airport is still open to more interested airline companies. * MLG
