Ricky Serenio, a self-confessed bagman of the Berya drug group in Bacolod City, was charged for frustrated murder, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office, yesterday.
The charge is in connection with the shooting incident that resulted in an injury to JoenVillacoer, 29, of Barangay 1 in Bacolod, Senior Insp. Jun Ray Batadlan, Police Station 3 chief, said.
Batadlan said Villacoer identified Serenio as the one who shot him at Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod, Tuesday.
Vilacoer and Serenio were friends before, however, they had a misunderstanding and rivalry over the areas where they conduct their drug transactions, Batadlan said.
Serenio, on board a motorcycle driven by a still unidentified person, hit Villacoer on his left leg, Batadlan said, adding that the driver was wearing a helmet.
Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office, said that a hot-pursuit operation was conducted to arrest Serenio following the incident.
However, Sereniowas still at large up to yesterday, Batadlan said.
The police is only waiting for the arrest warrant of Serenio to be released so they can apprehend him, Ebreo said.
Serenio, who had named in his affidavit members of the Philippine National Police, other law enforcers and media personalities, who allegedly are involved in the drugs trade, was out on bail after being chargedfor illegal possession of explosives and firearms, and grave coercion.*
