Arazo stars in another AX Currency win

Rodolfo Arazo scored a buzzer-beater putback to once again play hero for AX Currency-Barista as the squad nipped Ice Sportswear-Creamy Delight, 106-105, Monday night in Class A division of the Fill-Sino Asia Brewery 1st Invitational Cup at Tay Tung High School Po Hang gym.

          For the second straight game, Arazo delivered the needed points in the final minutes allowing AX Currency to pull off a win. In the previous game against SuperTwins-Vitamilk, Arazoscored the last four points of his team.
It was Brian Coo’s 9-point output in the first quarter that set the tone for AX Currency as he led the team’s balanced offensive for a 28-17 opening quarter advantage.

Darwyn Sadie, Stephen Barneso and Arazo combined for 18 points in the second quarter as as AX Currency remained in control, 57-44, at halftime. Meanwhile, Elvin Diaz delivered 9 pts and Bon BoNCadagat added 7 points for Ice Sportswear.

          CatsiCadagat scored 9 points and MJ Magbanua and Justin Baldonadomade  4 points each in the third quarter as Ice Sportswear cut the deficit to  82-71 going into the payoff period.

With momentum shifting, Ice Sportswear regained their composure and finally wrestled the lead on a Carlo De la Torre basket.

The effort, however, fell short as rebound play by Brian Coo tapping to an open Arazo whose putback sealed the win for AX Currency as time expired.

          Arazotallied 21 points while Barneso finished the game with 15 markers, Michael Cepriano shot 10, and Louie Gonzaga hit 7 points.

Ice Sportswear was led by Elvin Diaz with 22 points, MJ Magbanua and Bon BonCadagat had 13 points each, Reno Villafloridaadded 11. De La Torre with 10 points, Robert John Enaya contributed 9 points and Justin  and Baldonadowith 6 points apiece.

In Monday’s first game, Blitz-Summit iced another victory at the expense of SuperTwins-Vitamilk, 123-91 .

          Gerald Abrot lead Blitz  with  16 points while CedrickDebide paced SuperTwins with 22 points.*
