Arazo stars in another AX Currency win

Rodolfo Arazo scored a buzzer-beater putback to once again play hero for AX Currency-Barista as the squad nipped Ice Sportswear-Creamy Delight, 106-105, Monday night in Class A division of the Fill-Sino Asia Brewery 1st Invitational Cup at Tay Tung High School Po Hang gym.

          For the second straight game, Arazo delivered the needed points in the final minutes allowing AX Currency to pull off a win. In the previous game against SuperTwins-Vitamilk, Arazoscored the last four points of his team.
It was Brian Coo’s 9-point output in the first quarter that set the tone for AX Currency as he led the team’s balanced offensive for a 28-17 opening quarter advantage.

Darwyn Sadie, Stephen Barneso and Arazo combined for 18 points in the second quarter as as AX Currency remained in control, 57-44, at halftime. Meanwhile, Elvin Diaz delivered 9 pts and Bon BoNCadagat added 7 points for Ice Sportswear.

Celebrities join charity fun/walk

          Belo Medical Group’s celebrity endorsers Cristalle Henares Pitt, Lovi Poe and Derek Ramsay will join the “Run And Save A Life 6” charity run and walk event starting at 4:30 a.m. Sunday  at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City .

Spearheaded by the St. Scholastica’s Bacolod Alumnae Foundation Inc. (SSBAFI) and the Province of Negros Occidental, the event is now on its 6th year. Race categories include 3k, 5k and 10k courses.

Also included in this year’s event are the 5thKolasa 3k Batch Walkathon (open to all SSA-B graduates) and the 5thBelo 5k Group Walk Challenge to be sponsored by the Belo Medical Group and participated by the Capitolville Walkers, the Sta. Clara Homeowners’ Association and the St. John’s Institute Alumni Association.

Le Tour de Filipinas pedals tomorrow

Le Tour de Filipinas, the country’s premier cycling spectacle, pedals tomorrow from Legaspi City in Albay to Sorsogon.

The Le Tour, putting the Philippines on the spot anew on the world cycling map is the only International Cycling Union (UCI) road race in the country and is the kick off race of the Asia Tour season.

Tagaytay City Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, president of the national sports association for the sport, PhilCycling, acknowledged the importance of the race.
