Soroptimist hold cooking showdown in Bago

The Soroptimist International of Metro Bago yesterday  sponsored a Cooking Showdown in Bago City to discover new dishes and talents.

This year as part of the city’s  51st Charter Day celebration, the contest got together  again cooking wannabes of different barangays to showcase their new-found fishes using the locally grown ingredients that abound in their areas.

SIMB president Dr. Ramona Lamo said the cooking contest involved rootcrops, vegetable and seasoning categories. Fourteen barangays  participated in the event.
She said winners of the contest will be sent to the Panaad Festival as the city’s official contestant. They are also tapping the ability of local people for  discoveries of new menu that can be claimed by Bagonhons as theirs.

Brgy.Ilijan’s Gluten Lengua Estofada stood  out in the Vagetable Category followed by the delectable Shrimp de Buco with Mango of Brgy. Dulao.A third place was  the crunchy Jackfruit-Carrots Fritters of Brgy. Napoles.

The delightful Cassava Viola of Brgy. Atipuluan edged out  other dishes to win in the Root Crop Category, second was Brgy. Malingin’s Root Crop Fillet followed by Beef on Rice of Brgy. Poblacion.

In  the Seasoning Category, Brgy.Bacong’s Relleno Bangus with Rice won  followed by  Don Jorge Araneta’s Sea food Rice Bowl, and Paella of Brgy. Alianza.*MNM
