Drive vs. death penalty upped

The San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City is intensifying its campaign against the restoration of the death penalty as the  "Super Majority" in Congress rushes to pass  the bill by March 8, its rector, Father Felix Pasquin, said  yesterday.

“In addition to the  prayers in our daily masses against the passage of the death penalty bill, the  Cathedral is mounting another  tarpaulin campaign at 10 a.m. today,” Pasquin said.

The tarpaulin will have  simple one liners  that  capture the  essence of the Church’s call to stand up for life and to reject  legislative measures that  run counter to Christian doctrine, he added.*CPG
