Antique determined to present
province's best in 2017 Palaro

Preparations are on schedule in the province of Antique for the hosting of the 2017 PalarongPambansa on April 23 to 29.

In a recent meeting among regional sports coordinators and tournament managers for the 2017 Palaro, the group approved the billeting areas and playing venues, Department of Education Assistant Secretary TonisitoUmali said.

No major complaint was raised during the meeting and the group visited the different billeting areas and playing venues in the province, the Deped official added.

Mindanao pride Gennifer Pagente stayed on course to winning her second straight double championships after reaching the semifinal round of the girls' 18-under and 16-under divisions yesterday in the 28th Andrada Cup Junior Tennis Championships at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Seeded first in both divisions, Pagente of Cagayan de Oro City blasted Lila Salvacion, 6-0, 6-0, to arrange a semifinal meeting with Rafa Villanueva in the 18-under class. She won over No. 8 Justine Maneja, 6-4, 6-1, to advance against No. 3 Micaella Vicencio in the 16-under category.

In the boys' 18-under division, South Cotabato's Janus Ringia outplayed Jules Lazaro, 6-2, 2-6, 12-0, to set up a semis duel with No. 7 Jake Martin, who scored a 7-6 (2), 6-3 upset win over No. 3 Gabriel Tiamson.
