Duterte approves
SSS pension hike

Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate and Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares thanked Pres. Digong Duterte, the House leadership led by Speaker Bebot Alvarez and the new SSS Board led by Chair Amado Valdez for heeding the voice of the people in granting the long awaited hike in the pension, their press release said.

“We know that the P2000 hike is still very minimal for the required decent and livable pension. Yet, we hope that this would help our pensioners to somehow alleviate their hardships. Bayan Muna will continue to push for more reforms and for the earlier implementation of the second P1,000 tranche of the increase,” Rep. Zaratesaid.

Bayan Muna Chairman NeriColmenares said, “I'm happy that the president approved the SSS pension hike and we thank Pres. Duterte for allowing the increase. This means a lot to our senior citizens,”

PSBank starts LTNCTD offer

MANILA- - Offering of Philippine Savings Bank's (PSBank) 5-year and three-month Long-Term Negotiable Certificates of Time Deposit started yesterday.

In a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange Tuesday, the thrift banking arm of the Ty-led Metrobank Group said it will issue up to P 3 billion worth of LTNCTD with an annual interest rate of 3.5 percent payable quarterly.

Issue date of the LTNCTD will be on Jan. 30, 2017.

Investors may place at least Php 50,000 and increments of P 50,000 for additional investments.

Manufacturing sustains growth

MANILA -- Manufacturing output continued to show strong growth in November 2016 with higher production of petroleum products, transport equipment and food, contributing largely to the sector's expansion.

The Philippine Statistics Authority's Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI) for November 2016 showed that the Volume of Production Index for manufacturing increased by 14.6 percent from last year's 4.4-percent growth.

The Value of Production Index for manufacturing also surged by 10.6 percent, a significant rebound from the 2.2-percent decline last year.
