Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday signed memorandums of understanding with three organizations to provide Negrenses with education and training to enable them to find employment in the Northern Territory of Australia.
It is a win-win solution because Negrenses need jobs and the Northern Territory lacks workers, said Marañon, at the signing rites held during an Education and Training Diplomacy Conference at Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City attended by government, business and education officials.

Brgy. captain, two tanods
face admin, criminal raps
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE
The newly-installed barangay captain of Tadlom in Mabinay, and two of his tanods, are facing possible administrative and criminal charges due to alleged human rights violations committed against two of their constituents.
Alpie Terano, 27, single, and Joey Callao, 18, single, both of Sitio Banlas in Tadlom, issued sworn affidavits before the Commission on Human Rights Monday, accusing barangay captain Lowell Signap and tanods Merlito Gallanero and Modesto Fuentes of mauling them.
The complainants narrated before CHR special field investigator Jess Cañete yesterday that on June 20 at about 8 p.m., they were tasked to chop firewood by neighbor Shem Grafil after which they proceeded to the house of Terano's aunt, Bernadette Rufino, to rest.
