A resolution requesting Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia to convene the Bacolod Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Council, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said City Ordinance No. 08-14-673 or “An Ordinance Creating the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council of Bacolod City,” was passed on May 14, 2014 to stir economic development of the city.
It said Article 3 of C.O. 08-14-673 states that the city should create its own MSMED Council to be composed of the mayor as chairman, private sector representative from a duly-accredited business organization as vice chairman; the chairmen of the SP Committee on Trade and Commerce and Committee on Livelihood and Cooperatives; Association of Barangay Captains president; and three representatives from duly-accredited organizations composed of barangay, micro, small and medium enterprises as members, and Business Permit and Licensing Division and Livelihood Development Office as secretariat.
The resolution said there is a need to convene the BSMED Council in order to perform, assist, formulate policies and initiate projects in support of the development of micro business enterprises of the city*CGS
