Ice Sportswear cagers bag
Toby's Inter-Barkada title

Ice Sportswear survived POC, 94-87, in Game of their best-of-three final series to capture the championship in Toby's Sports Bacolod Inter-Barkada Basketball Tournament played Thursday night at the STI-West Negros University Gym.

It was a close game in the first quarter as both teams traded shots with Gerald Abrot hitting 9 points and Paul Cruz sinking a pair of triples as POC edged Ice Sportswear, 24-23. Bon Cadagat and Luigi Herrera shot 8 points each for Ice Sportswear.

In the second quarter, Ice Sportswear shifted into high gear as Shem Claridad and Justin Baldonado combined for 15 points for a 47-40 lead at the break. Demm de Leon kept POC into the game with 6 points.

Unfazed by the second quarter attack from the other side, POC came bounced back in the third quarter with Darwyn Sadie firing 9 points and Ryan Maningo adding 7 points to cut down the lead to two points at 64-66. Ice Sportswear remained in control with Elvin Diaz scoring 9 points going into the fourth quarter.

Abrot canned 9 points while Maningo hit 7 points as POC made a final stand but their heroics were not enough to stop Ice Sportswear from bagging winning the championship.

Diaz led Ice Sportswear with 16 points, all in the second half, as Baldonado tallied 13 markers, Jay Herrera finished with 10 points, Cadagat and Boknoy Benieves with 9 points each, and Luigi Herrera and Claridad chipped in 8 points apiece.

Abrot toposcred for POC with 19 points as Maningo added 14 points and Sadie with 13 points.*
