City officials to
launch Asean kiosks

Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya and Mayor Evelio Leonardia will attend the launching of the Asean Kiosk at the SM City Atrium at 3 p.m. today.

Philippine Information Agency Director Janet Mesa said Leonardia will be the guest speaker and will switch on the ASEAN TV Infomercial while Gasataya will give the welcome remarks.

Also invited is SM Bacolod City Mall Assistant Mall Manager Julia Javellana who will join in the ribbon cutting to launch the kiosk.

Mesa will speak on the background of the Information Kiosk.

This is part of several activities to be held today in Bacolod City in preparation for the Asean meeting from March 21 to 24.

A send-off ceremony for Task Group Bacolod will be held at 8 a.m. today at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds, while a final pre-deployment conference for the task group will follow at 2 p.m. at the MassKara Hall.

The launching will be in time for the holding of the 15th Meeting of the ASEAN Senior Officials Responsible for Information (SOMRI) to be held at SMX Convention Center from March 21 to 24.

The kiosk will contain magazines, flat tv screen, cintraboard stand of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and reading materials on ASEAN and from other government agencies.

Present will be representatives from various sectors including students, government officials and employees and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Similar kiosks were also installed across the country, usually in tandem with the ASEAN meetings to enable the public to gain knowledge about goals of the organization.

The kiosk in Bacolod will be open from March 20 to 24.*
