Alvarez eyes seat of gov't

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez yesterday said he is serious about his proposal to make Negros Occidental the seat of government of the country, to decongest Metro Manila.

Alvarez said Negros Occidental is strategically located between Luzon and Mindanao – it is in the center of the country.

He said he will push for this after the country has a revised constitution, in apparent reference to the shift towards a federal form of government.

There has to be a dream first, and execution later, he said.

Bureau of Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Clint Aranassaidthis would have a huge impact on future generations to come.

This government is all about political will, he said.

“This could be a game changer for us”, said Aranas, who is from Negros Occidental.*CPG
