Mower posts first win in ABC-LEADS Cup as
Top Ace keeps slate clean after three games

Team Mower barged into the win column Thursday night aftersqueaking past Karmex Gold, 90-86, in the ABC-LEADS Agri Cup at the Ayala Northpoint Clubhouse in Talisay City.

The game was close in the opening quarter as Mower took the upperhand, 24-20, behind Willy Dasal's 11 points while Adrian Cuaycong led Karmex with 10 first quarter points.

Mark Jomalesa orchestrated a second quarter run, blowing the game wide open, giving Mower an 18-point advantage at the half led by Nikol Medina's 13 points.

Karmex bounced back in the third quarter as the duo of Luigi Coo and TaboyCorriente combined for 22 of their 29-point output, trailing only by 4 points at 65-61 entering the final 12 minutes.

Both teams traded basketball throughout the fourth quarter.

Joshua Co sealed the game and the final score by making two crucial freethrows with 22 seconds remaining as Mower came away with the victory.

Medina paced Mower, which now has a 1-1 card, with 21 points while Co chipped in 19.

PopoyJamero fired 15 points as Dasal and Marcus Escalante made 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Renz Campos, JrMombay, and PepeBalladares combined for 14 points.

Luigi Coo led Karmex Gold, which is touting now a 1-2 record, with 28 markers as Corriente and Cuaycong finished in double figures with 21 and 10 points.

TitingCañete scored 7 while ReyginOquiana, Jake DelaPaz, ChuckieSibug, Bong Quiñon, FredelDoromal, and JadGolez pooled in 17 points.

In the second game, Team Top Ace remained as the only unbeaten team of the tournament aftertopping Team Leadforce, 93-81.

Top Ace, which kept is slate clean after three games, took a 17-4 lead early behind the combo of ArjayJamero and Bourne Sioquim but Robby Jalandoon responded to tie the score at 21 to end the first quarter.

Brian Coo flexed his muscles down low in the second quarter scoring 14 points to give Top Ace a 4-point lead at the half.

Japheth Cua anchored the offense in the third quarter for Top Ace making 13 points to counter Ralph Ong, who scored 8 points for Leadforce but his team still trailed 67-60 at the end of the third.

Peter Paul Ortaliz tried to bring his team back scoring 9 points in the pay off period but Cua responded by hitting 3 three-pointers as Top Ace held on for the win.

Cua led Top Acewith 22 points as Brian Coo and ArjayJamero finished with 18 and 10 points, respectively.

Sioquim and Christian Maravilla scored 9 and 8 points while Mark Carmona, Jabby Valdez, Raphael Ciocon and Gerard Barranechea combined for 16 points.

Jalandoontopscored for Leadforce with 16 points as Ortaliz finished with 13.

LuiginoLacson and Ralph Ong chipped in 8 apiece while Bren Tajonera and Axo Yao had 6 points each.

Clark Denosta, Joey Jesena, Steven Villanueva, Reint Tad y, Ian Secaluya, JomarieRegalado, and Alex Fernandez put together 24 points.*
