Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol and Senator Cynthia Villar will be the guests at the 11th National Shrimp Congress at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City that kicks off Thursday.
The three-day congress,with the theme, “Sustainable Shrimp Industry: Unified Direction Towards Production and Growth”, is sponsored by Phil Shrimp and the Negros Prawn Producers Coop., Raoul Flores,NNPC vice chair, said.
About 800 delegates, stakeholders of the shrimp industry representing the shrimp farmers, hatchery operators, feedmillers, supplements suppliers, buyers/exporters, researchers, and the academe will gather to exchange experiences and know-how at the congress, Flores said.
National director Eduardo Gongona of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources is also expected at the affair.
Flores said 28 speakers from the Philippines and abroad have been invited to share the latest studies on shrimp culture.
