CHED backs PSC as sole
authority on amateur sports

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has reiterated its stand on recognizing the power of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to endorse groups in international sports.

In a statement yesterday, CHED recognized the PSC as the sole authority on amateur sports in the country that has the power to provide endorsement and recognition to organizations and teams representing the Philippines in international sports competitions.

The statement added that CHED Chairperson Patricia Licuanan wrote Department of Education (DepEd) Assistant Secretary Tony Umali, who is in charge of Legislative Affairs, External Partnerships and Linkages, and School Sports, saying that requests to endorse sports organizations to represent the country in various international sports competitions, organizations and governing bodies should be directed to the PSC and not the CHED.
