A quarrel among relatives ended with the death of a minor, who was hit in the crossfire, and three others, including a barangay kagawad, in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, the police reported yesterday.
The fatalities were identified by the police as Kerwin Labiga Royo, and his uncle, Kagawad Ernesto Royo, James Labiga, and James Michael Mirano, 5.
Injured were Fritz Royo and his cousin, Esperijon Royo.
Moises Padilla police investigation showed that Labiga and his nephew, Debrick Labiga, who were both under the influence of liquor, passed by the house of Esteban Empanto in Brgy. 1 Poblacion, Moises Padilla, on Tuesday night, where Kerwin and Esperijon, both laborers, were also having a drinking spree.
Labiga allegedly provoked trouble by smashing the bamboo fence of the residence of Empanto, and stabbed Kerwin as well as Esperijon after entering the house, police reports said.
Kerwin succumbed to a stab wound in the lower part his right armpit, while Espirijon was hit in his right arm.
In his report to Senior Supt. Rodolfo Castil, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, Moises Padilla police chief, said that Kerwin was declared dead on arrival at the Isabela District Hospital.
Esperijon was also transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City, after initial treatment at the Isabela District Hospital.
Ten hours after the stabbing incident at about 5:40 a.m. yesterday, Kagawad Royo and his nephew, Fritz Royo, spotted Labiga, alias Saycan, at the residence of Michael Mirano in same barangay.
Kagawad Royo and his nephew Fritz, armed with firearm of undetermined caliber and a knife, respectively, assaulted Labiga, who also fought back, investigations of the Moises Padilla police further showed.
Kagawad Royo and Labiga, succumbed to multiple stab wounds, and were both declared dead on arrival at the Isabela District Hospital.
Mirano, 5,who was hit by a stray bullet in the head, also died.
Fritz, who was also injured, was brought to a hospital in Bacolod City, after being treated at the Isabela District Hospital.
Kerwin and his brother, Fritz, whose middle name is Labiga, are also relatives of James. * GPB
