About 27 government agencies, that include 5 local government units in Negros Occidental, will participate in the third leg of this year's Kabisig Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair 2017 to be held for the first time in Bacolod City on Oct. 17 to 19 at the SMX Convention Center.
Kabisig Chairman Daniel Guillen said in their meeting yesterday, that the event will be a venue for informing people in the province of the accomplishments, programs and services of participating national government agencies, as well as LGU investment and tourism potential.
The event is headed by the Kabisig People's Movement of the Kabisig Mindanao Foundation Inc., a non-government organization that monitors government activities, he said.
The 27 agencies participating, includethe Negros Occidental provincial government, local government units of Bacolod, Sipalay, Victorias, and San Carlos City. This is only 9 percent of total government agencies in the country, that are about 300, including government operated or controlled corporations.
He also expressed disappointment in the other agencies who will not participate in the event, saying that this is one way of telling people what their agency is about.
The trade expo has been running for almost two decades since the administration of Corazon Aquino and trade expos in Luzon and Mindanao took place this year, Guillen said.
He also urged the people to help President Rodrigo Duterte in his plans for the country and join in supporting him.
Guillen said earlier that he is encouraging them to participate in the event to help promote tourist attractions as well as possible investment ventures from different stakeholders in their place.
The event is usually held in Cebu for its Visayas leg and he added that this year it will be hosted in Bacolod to showcase what the city and Negros Occidental has to offer.
After the event, he said he is planning to talk with the president to encourage him to create an Executive Order on this government expo to ensure that more will join. * MLG
