Bulk water supply
assembly Thursday

The Bacolod Water Consumers WatchInc. will assemble the 61 barangays of Bacolod for updates on the status of the Bulk Water Supply contract of the Bacolod City Water District 9 a.m. Thursday at the SangguniangPanlungsodSession Hall of the Bacolod City Government Center, a press release from the Office of Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. said.

The water consumers group, chaired by Gamboa, had invited Baciwa general manager Juliana Carbon, and Ryan Yapkianwee, Chief Operating Officer of the Bacolod Bulk Water Supply Inc., as resource speakers for the meeting, it said.

Expected to attend are representatives from the 61 barangays of Bacolod City, among them are the barangay captains and their respective barangay chairpersons of the Committee on Environment. Also invited are various water consumer stakeholders and concerned non-government organizations, the press release said.

Topics for discussion include the status of the Bulk Water Supply Contract of Baciwa, the water supply shortage in Bacolod City and concerns regarding the water refilling stations, it said.

Gamboa said Bacolod Water Watch, as a consumer “watchdog”, will continue to seek and ensure water sufficiency and security for Bacolod City and to ensure consumer protection against water rate increases, unreasonable fees and impositions of excessive, exorbitant charges and imposition of arbitrary and capricious policies that would violate consumer rights, the press release added.*
