Neg. Occ. 2018 budget up 9%

The Negros Occidental provincial government's annual budget for 2018 is expected to increase by 9 percent, and will include the third tranche of salary increases for its employees, Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado Jr. said yesterday.

Salado said the implementation of the third tranche of increases under the Salary Standardization Law will start on Jan.1, 2018, unlike the second tranche that started in July this year.

He said they are in the final stages of completing the proposed 2018 budget to be submitted to the governor.

They have finished the section on personal services and are now working on the final stage of Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses, he said.

He said the P160 million each will be allocated to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management, and Gender and Development.

The Negros Occidental budget for 2018 will increase by 8 to 9 percent, with the Internal Revenue Allotment up by 7.37 percent plus local funds, Salado said.*CPG
