WOFEX Bacolod

The renowned World Food Expo recently marked its 18 th year by launching their biggest regional show in Bacolod City.

As its second year in the City of Smiles, WOFEX Bacolod brought together a wide array of respected personalities in the food and beverage industry, both from Negros and Manila. This is the region's biggest and more focused food show of the year. In line with the exhibition, the organizers also launched WOFEX University. Here, participants brought home a wealth of knowledge gained through seminars and advance learning talks from the best speakers in the industry.

The function room of the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod was buzzling with the best suppliers in Negros Island and among the known brands in the country. Hundreds of products and services were exhibited, given the wide variety of network suppliers in the food and beverage businesses in Bacolod. Also throughout the day, there were dozens of demos done by industry professionals that served as an inspiration and gave more ideas for local businessmen to emulate.

The speakers included chef Jakie Ang-Po, who talked about costing cakes correctly, chef Dan Basilio, who talked about perfecting the croissant and Danish bread, and chef Buddy Trinidad, who talked about making your dream café a reality. Restaurateur chef Robert Spakowski and chef Rommel Hino talked about flipping your menu and building your own successful brand, respectively.*

Tampisaw Spring Festival

Tampisaw Spring Festival is a group exhibition featuring the Tampisaw watercolor painters.

Having found inspiration in the success of their first exhibition named "Diri sa Amon" in November 2017, the group now embarks on another watercolor show as part of the SM Art Rules Changing Exhibit in celebration of the National Arts Month. The group is even more dedicated to cultivate the growing interest in watercolor as a medium to express and to create art.

The artists express that “while the skies and streets throughout the world explode with the dazzling colors of firecrackers, giant lanterns, zodiac floats, and festivities in celebration of the Chinese New Year, the group translates these festive imagery, influences, beliefs, and inspiration in a symphony of strokes, washes, and water blooms.”

The group met at the Tampisaw Watercolor Workshops conducted by Negrense artist Edbon Sevilleno in the early part of 2017. Since then, these members have become each other's support group in discovering and honing their love for the medium watercolor through art get-togethers they fondly call art-tambays.

The Tampisaw watercolor painters are also members of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros, International Watercolor Society Philippines, and the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists.

The Tampisaw Spring Festival opens today and will run until February 18 at the 2 nd level, North Wing of SM City Bacolod.*
