The president of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. is eyeing to fast track the modernization of the Bredco Port to make it a transshipment point in the country.
Bredco president John Alonte said yesterday that there are development plans aligned to modernize the port, as key ports in the country, like in Manila, Batangas and Cebu, have become congested.
He said it will entail billions of pesos, and to develop the area located at the Reclamation Area of Bacolod City, they have already signed a renewal of contract to continue the development.
Bago agro fair opens
Twenty-four booths from the barangays of Bago City, Negros Occidental, participated in the Agro Industrial, Cultural, and Educational Fair as part of the 52 nd Charter anniversary celebration of the city that opened yesterday.
The opening ceremony for the week-long fair at Bantayan Park in Bago City was led by Western Visayas director Remelyn Recoter of the Department of Agriculture, with Vice Mayor Ramon Torres and some government officials from the province.
The event that will run until Feb. 19 is part of the charter anniversary celebration of Bago this year, on the theme “Working Together, Achieving More for a Better Bago”.
65 kilos of ‘hot meat'
in tricycle seized
The Task Force Botagoy seized about 65 kilos of “hot meat”, worth P15,600, in Purok Gracia, Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City, at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday.
Executive assistant Ernie Pineda, cluster head on markets, yesterday said the task force intercepted a tricycle loaded with “hot meat”, and driven by Resty Navarro, 20, of Brgy. Alijis, who failed to present a meat inspection certificate.
Navarro was on his way to deliver the meat products to customers when these were seized by the task force since they did not undergo inspection at the Bacolod City Slaughterhouse, in violation of City Ordinance 459, he said.
