Ceres-Negros unloads 9 goals
in win against BoeungKet FC

Ceres-Negros FC opened their campaign in the AFC Cup with a 9-0 demolition of the visiting Boeung Ket FC of Cambodia at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City last night.

The Busmen hit another high spot for the 6-year-old club as they matched the biggest win in the AFC Cup history set by Nasaf Qarshi of Uzbekistan against Dempo of India in 2011.

Braving the rains from Typhoon Basyang, Ceres' followers were there to witness the Busmen raise the bar on their performance.

New recruit Takumi Uesato, Ceres' top scorer Bienvenido Marañon, and OJ Porteria each delivered a brace, while Carlie de Murga and Manny Ott had a goal apiece.

A second half own goal from Boeung Ket defender Sun Sovanrithy allowed Ceres to share the AFC Cup record win with Uzbekistan.

Proud of what the team has achieved, Ceres head coach Risto Vidakovic said they have to keep on going since the other clubs are much more stronger.

“They went out there to fight and they never expected an easy win. We need to have this mentality in every game even if we are winning, we need to keep on fighting,” Vidakovic said of the performance of the Busmen.

Uesato, who was named Man of Mat Andy Alvarez photosch, said it was not easy game and he considers each of his teammates as Man of the Match for giving their best.

“I was just the lucky boy,” Uesato, who opened the scoring for Ceres in the 15 th minute, said. He scored his second goal in 22 nd , the third for the Busmen after a Marañon strike in the 19 th minute.

The Spanish striker made it 4-0 six minutes later after converting a penalty, while Porteria's 31 st minute marker completed the 5-0 scoreline.

With Sovanrithy's own goal in 58 th minute and de Murga's header in 60 th , Boeung Ket's was staring at 7-0 margin. Manny Ott scored in 81 st while Porteria had his second goal five minute before time.

“I am very disappointed with our performance but we hope we will do better in the second leg at home,” Boeung Ket head coach Keo Kosal said, adding that two of his foreign players were not able to join them in last night's game due to visa issues.

Statistics from the match show Ceres made 38 shots, 18 on target, while Boeung Ket had 5 shots with 3 on target.

The Busmen also made 553 passes against Cambodia's 221 and registered 72.8 possession against the visiting team's 27.2.

Starting for Ceres last night were Toni Doblas, Sean Kane, Super Herrera, Mike Ott, Marañon, Uesato, Porteria, Stephan Shrock, de Murga, Omid Nazari, and Jeffrey Chistaens.

Patrick Reichelt came in for Schrock minutes before halftime while Ott replaced Marañon and Nessi Ramos subbed for Sato.*NAB
