Teachers agree to help
May 14 election watch

The Bacolod City Public School Teachers Federation in a representative assembly yesterday afternoon reversed their earlier resolution not to serve in the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, their president, Gualberto Dajao, said.

He said they will now help the Commission on Elections and the needed 500 teachers for the Electoral Boards and Barangay Boards of Canvassers will be available.

Bacolod Election Officer MavilMajaruconSia said 2,538 teachers are needed to serve, and 2,038 posts have been filled.

Dajao said they reversed their initial resolution in order to serve the country at a time when they are needed most.

Dajao met with Sia on Monday and they discussed the demands of the BCPSTF.

Sia explained to Dajao that no charges were filed againstthe three Rizal Elementary School teachers who mistakenly proclaimed the wrong barangay kagawad as winner in the May 2013 polls, and she had, in fact, filed the pleadings for them.

She also assured Dajaothatshe would endorse the other BCPSTF concerns to the Comelec en banc that has the power to act on them.*CPG
