Anti-drugs operations
up 750% in Bacolod

Operations against illegal drugs in Bacolod City in the first 20 days of February 2018 increased by 750 percent, compared to the same period in 2017.

Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, Bacolod City Police Office officer-in-charge, said that the 10 police stations and their operating units conducted 17 operations, which are 15 more compared to only 2, last year.

One of the reasons for the upsurge is the stoppage of the Philippine National Police operations against illegal drugs in February 2017, Ebreo said.

“That is why, for the whole month of February last year, there were only two operations. It was only in March when the anti-drugs operations resumed,” Ebreo said.

From February 1 to 18 this year, the BCPO seized 123.8 grams of shabu worth about P1,856,925, arrested 37 persons and filed 43 cases in the courts, Ebreo said.

In the TokhangRelaunched, the Bacolod police visited 103 houses and revisited 114 more.

Sixty street-level targets and six high value targets on the watchlist, and 20 newly-identified drug personalities have also surrendered, records show.

Meanwhile, in the campaign against illegal gambling, the BCPO conducted nine operations, arrested 23 persons , filed nine cases in courts, and confiscated P1,807 in bet money, Ebreo added.*SGG
