2 minors, woman killed

Two minors and a woman were killed, while four others sustained injuries, in separate vehicular accidents on Wednesday and yesterday in the cities of Kabankalan and Silay, Negros Occidental.

Cecilia Villaruel, 35, and Blessed Santillana, 4, both residents of Brgy. Taloc, Bago City, died yesterday, after the tricycle they were riding on figured in a collision with another vehicle in Brgy.Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The victims were reported to have been on their way home, on board the tricycle driven by Dominador Villaruel, when the accident took place.

Aside from Dominador, also injured were Liny, Alexander and Leopoldo, all surnamed Santillana, Supt. Rhea Santos, who is the Kabankalan City police chief, said.

Except for Liny and Alexander, who are now being treated for their injuries at the Kabankalan District Hospital, Leopoldo and Dominador were later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment, Santos said.

The driver of the other vehicle identified by the police as Camilo Margallo, of Iligan City,Lanao del Norte, later surrendered to the Mabinay Police Station in Negros Oriental.

Ryan Jandongan, 17, also died on the spot, in what is believed to have been an offshoot of a traffic accident Wednesday at Km. 15 in Brgy. 5, Silay City, the police said.

Jandongan succumbed to head injuries, investigations of the Silay police showed.

The driver of the Nissan truck, identified as Moel Soto, 53, of Moises Padilla town, told the Silay police that his vehicle sustained damages.

Soto found Jandongan lying on the road, with his damaged motorcycle, police investigations also showed.

The Silay police placed Soto under their custody, pending further investigations of the incident.*GPB
