World Cup final match
live broadcast at BCGC

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday that they are planning to put up a big LED screen at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds this Sunday in time for the final match of World Cup 2018 in Russia.

With football having a huge fan-base in Bacolod, Leonardia said the city government does not want them to be deprived of the enjoyment and thrill of watching the championship game live via satellite.

“We’ve been getting feedbacks about the huge following of the World Cup in the city and we want to provide people with quality live broadcast via satellite,” the mayor said.

Wild Boars get Man United invite

English Premier League side Manchester United have invited the Wild Boars football team, like the Chilean miners rescued in 2010, to visit Old Trafford following their dramatic rescue last night.

The final five members of the young football team -- four youngsters and their 25-year-old coach -- were rescued from a flooded Thai cave after spending 18 harrowing days trapped deep inside, completing an astonishing against-the-odds rescue mission that captivated the world.

The dozen players -- aged 11 to 16 -- and the coach had already received an invitation from FIFA chief Gianni Infantino last week to attend the World Cup final on Sunday in Moscow -- although after their traumatic experience they may not be up to the trip physically or mentally.
