Two motorcycle riders died, while four others were injured in separate vehicular accidents on Tuesday in the cities of Sagay and Bago, Negros Occidental.
Gilbert Rafael and his unidentified companion were both declared dead on arrival at the Lopez District Foundation Hospital, due to serious injuries, the Sagay police said.
Sagay police investigation showed that the XRM Honda 125 motorcycle driven by Rafael, 37, figured in a head-on collision with the Hino truck bus driven by Geronimo Batoon of Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City.
The bus, that was occupying the right lane and was on its way to Bacolod City, was bumped by the motorcycle, that was also using the same lane and running in the opposite direction.
Batoon is now being held at the Sagay City Police Station.
Meanwhile, the collision of a tricycle and a motorcycle also led to the injuries of four victims in Brgy. Alianza, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on the same day.
Injured were Narciso and Erlita Jarde, Marnel John Malunes and James Brian Amarillo.
Bago police investigation showed that the Kawasaki Barako motorcycle driven by Amarillo, with Malunes as back rider, that was on the opposite lane, collided with a tricycle driven by Narciso Jarde, with Erlita, as his passenger.
Amarillo and Malunes are now being treated for their injuries at the South Bacolod Hospital, while Narciso and Erlita were transferred from the Bago City Hospital to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.*GPB
