WORLD SERIES QUALIFIER
Negros little leaguers
drub Singapore, 17-0
BY NIDA A. BUENAFE

The Juniors (13-14 years old) little league team from Negros Occidental blasted host Singapore, 17-0, to open their campaign in the 2018 Little League Asia Pacific Regional Softball Championship held yesterday in Singapore.

All 17 runs were scored by the Negros team in the first inning as rain threatened to halt the play, coach Roselle Hulleza of the Negros First Juniors team said.

Since they needed to reach the fourth inning to invoke the mercy rule, Hulleza said she allowed immediate out for her players in the second and third inning to speed up the match.

NTU-Tigers taekwondo jins win
gold, bronze medals in natíl event

The Negros Taekwondo Union- Tigers (NTU-Tigers) of Bacolod City bagged four gold and two bronze medals at the National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, held June 23-24, at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.

After months of conceptualizing and preparations, the NTU-Tigers performed their “Pinoy Ethnic” themed synchronized poomsae to serve as a reminder for all Filipinos to be proud of who they are and where they come from, coach Crystal Pauline Sabido of the NTU-Tigers said.

As this year’s gold medalist in synchronized poomsae, the NTU-Tigers are back-to-back champions in the most prestigious event of the championships, she added.
