Palanca gives P70M to hospital

Bacolod businessman Simplicio Palanca donated P70 million for the construction of the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center Medical Arts building during his 95 th birthday at the Pavillon Hotel and Resort in Bacolod City yesterday.

A symbolic check for P70 million was turned over to Dr. Hector Gayares Jr., president of BAMC, by John Alonte and Willy Au, directors of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp., during the celebration of Palanca’s birthday.

Gayares said it has been the dream of Palanca to build a state-of-the-art hospital in Bacolod City to help in the medical service of the city. “He is a man who is overflowing with generosity”, he said.

He said he told Palanca, who has been admitted in the hospital since October, that he is part of the healing ministry of BAMC, which is a faith-based institution.

Since they know that it has been Palanca’s dream to establish a hospital in Bacolod, they presented to him a medical arts building project, that will house the doctors clinics, Gayares said.

Because of his generosity, his love for the medical work, they also made representations to John Alonte, Willy Au, Reynaldo Bantug and Rolando Corona Jr., and with their support, Palanca, even on his 95 th birthday never ceases to give, he said.

Palanca is a testament of that generosity by supporting the building of the project that will cost P70 millionand he signed their conforme letter to their the proposal yesterday, Gayares said.

Alonte said they have decided to celebrate his uncle’s 95 th birthday as a way of thanking the Lord for extending his life.

“Tonight was one of the happiest nights we have ever seen him. And that was a result of all of you being here tonight celebrating with us his 95 th birthday,” Alonte said.

A video presentation of Palanca’s family, friends, and business associates was also shown during the celebration extending their greetings on his birthday and wishing him well.*CGS
