The City of Bacolod has allocated a budget for the repair and rehabilitation of the three major public markets in the city.
Bacolod City Administrator John Orola said each major public market has been allocated a budget of P2 million each.
Orola said they will start with the clean-up and repair of the Burgos Market and implement improvements in its meat, fish and vegetable sections.
He said initial repairs will also be done in the meat and fish sections of the Central Market.
Orola said they will also ensure that no poultry and meat products will be sold outside the Central Market.
In the case of the Libertad Market, they are planning to allow the use the second floor of the annex building for vendors who are selling non-perishable items, he said.
Aside from the budget allocated for the three major markets, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia is providing an additional P5 million for their improvement, Orola said.*CGS
