Summit rolls over
Cobra for 8th straight win


Summit overpowered Cobra, 96-79, to nail its 8th straight victory in the Class B division of Fil-Sino Basketball Asia Brewery Cup, Monday night at Bacolod Tay Tung High School in Bacolod City.

Also upping its game was Absolute squad, which improved its quarterfinals chances with a win against Nestea, 83-73.

Summit outscored Cobra at the half, 52-41, behind Jeffrey Espuerta, Marc Lo, and Jappy Cuaycong conspired for 28 points even as Brix Arrobang and Nico Yap tried to hold the fort for Cobra with a combined 12-point production.

In the third quarter, Cris Pascua scored 12 points and Mark Yee added 8 to extend Summit lead to 78-62. Bobil Alagaban dropped 8 points for Cobra.

Pascua topscored for Summit with 16 points while Lo and Efraim Valencia tallied 12 points each.

Arrobang had a game high 18 points, Jeremy Coo added 17, Nico Yap contributed 14 points and Alagaban finished with 10 markers.

In the first game, Absolute took a 24-13 opening quarter lead behind the prolific scoring of Ramon Khey and Dayven Dreyfus even as Clarence Quingco kept Nestea into the game with 7 points.

Harry Siendo and Rey Pandoro combined for 20 points to cut the deficit to 40-39 at the break while Khey made 7 points in the quarter.

Both teams had a low scoring and equal output in the third quarter as Khey knocked down three triples while Siendo delivered 6 points.

Mar Macainan, Dreyfus and DK Equipaje conspired for 26 points to lead Absolute past Nestea, which can only counter with Danty Ma and Rey Pandoro’s combined production of 13 points.

Khey sizzled with 28 points, Dreyfus added 18, Macainan shot 12, Equipaje contributed 9 points, while Jan Jan Lopue shot 6 points all in the fourth quarter.

Siendo finished with 21 points while Pandoro had 17 points.*
