Bacolod-Silay airport runway
to be closed, flights delayed

MANILA - The Bacolod-Silay Airport’s runway 03/21 will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 9, to give way to a full-scale emergency exercise to be held during that period.

“This is a requirement for the airport’s aerodrome certification, a certification for its navigational equipment," Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines spokesperson, Eric Apolonio, said yesterday.

The CAAP said flights that may be delayed due to the runway’s closure included that of Philippine Airlines 2331/2332 Clark-Bacolod-Clark and 2131/2132 Manila-Bacolod/Manila; and Cebu Pacific’s (5J) 484 Bacolod-Manila, 5J 125 Bacolod-Cebu, and 5J 486 Manila-Bacolod.

NFA to discuss DA guidelines on rice
labeling, display to Negros retailers

The National Food Authority will meet with rice retailers in Negros Occidental Friday to explain the new guidelines set by the Department of Agriculture on how to display and label rice varieties sold in the market.

NFA Provincial Manager Frisco Canoy said yesterday that they already received a copy of the memorandum from the DA central office on the guidelines on displaying and labeling rice varieties sold in retail stores in the province, to help pull down prices.

Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said in his recent visit to Bacolod and Bago that the DA will set a policy of categorizing rice varieties into regular-milled, well-milled, and special rice.
