The Bacolod City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office received the 2018 Gawad Parangal awards from the Cooperative Development Authority during the CDA Gawad Parangal, held at the Nobu Hotel in Quezon City recently.
The trophies were for the Regional Gawad Parangal for Best Performing LGU Cooperative Development Office in Region 6, and the National Gawad Parangal for 3rd Best Performing LGU-CDO.
The BCCLDO also received a plaque of recognition as a national nominee.
BCCLDO officer-in-charge, Brenda Burdeos, said this is the first time they have received an award at the national level.
She said Tacloban had been a first placer three times, and Valenzuela a second placer twice.
Burdeos said every cooperative development office is being evaluated for its services and livelihood programs, as well as best practices.
The Bacolod Showroom at the City Hall is one of their best practices. It is composed of small entrepreneurs who market their products and livelihood projects to the community, she said.*
