Sta. Ana, Iloilo Doctor’s to dispute
PCCL regional championship today

Reigning NOPSSCEA men’s basketball champion Colegio de Sta. Ana – Victorias will face Iloilo Doctor’s College today at 1 p.m. for the PCCL regional championship at STI-WNU Gym.

The winner will advance to the PCCL Zonal elimination schedule in Davao next month.

The match-up between CSA-V and IDH heralds the resumption of sports rivalry between Bacolod and Negros.

Early this year, tension escalated in a couple of events during the Western Visayas regional meet after Negros Occidental and Iloilo figured in a tightly contested finals in football and baseball.

Meanwhile, today’s PCCL regional final is hosted by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas provincial head Tony Agustin.

According to Agustin, either Sta. Ana and Iloilo Doctors will have the chance to play in the national championship in Manila if they prevail over their rivals from the other regions in Visayas.

“The winner of this zonal will advance to the PCCL National Championship in Manila,” he added.

The PCCL and SBP has organized these inter-collegiate basketball tournament in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to strengthen the collegiate basketball landscape through a nationwide school-based competition.

The league's format varies every season with 250 teams coming from nine different regional areas nationwide.*
