Isabela town ‘a tourist destination’

A resolution declaring the entire municipality of Isabela as a tourism destination in the Philippines was unanimously approved during a municipal convention recently, Mayor Joselito Malabor said.

The copies of the resolution will be furnished the Sangguniang Bayan and Department of Tourism central and regional offices, Malabor said.

He said the resolution is a requirement for the budget requests for the concretization of the access roads leading to the tourist destinations of Isabela, at the Department of Budget and Management and the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Among the top tourist destinations in Isabela are the ruins of houses, the Holy Mountain, several farms, and eco-tourism sites, Malabor said.

Since Isabela is already delayed in declaring itself as a tourism destination, Malabor said, their strategy is to combine their tourist spots with the tour packaging of Negros Occidental, and nearby towns of La Castellana and Binalbagan.

He added that they will also train their personnel to enhance their human resource in the field of tourism.*
